It's all happening in Manchester - and the action will continue this summer, with the re-opening of the National Football Museum in July. Exhibits will include the original rules of the FA from 1863, on public display for the first time, and the 21st Century boots and a medal from England women's coach Hope Powell.

National Football Museum in Manchester now set to open in early 2012, but work due to be completed this autumn.

Lottery grant of £520,000 to revamp museum at Much Wenlock in Shropshire, town credited with inspiring start of modern Olympics. 

New Museum of Liverpool now open. Includes Everton Collection material, football film, Boardman bike.

BBC Radio 4 'Sport and the British' series with Clare Balding put back to early next year to launch 2012 Olympic coverage on the station.
